Are the windows full view in Prestige Class on the GoldenPass Express?

Short summary – read this first

Peter wanted to know if all seats on the GoldenPass train have full window views or if they can be blocked. He was curious about the seat rotation feature and how it works since he heard it can swivel 180 degrees.

Key takeaways:
  • You can ask a train attendant for assistance with seat rotation since passengers can't do it themselves.
  • Consider reading reviews on classes like Prestige to see if the extra cost is worth it, as some travelers felt it didn't provide much added value.
  • If you're looking for better service, consider options like the Excellence Class on the Glacier Express, which has received positive feedback for its service quality.

We did the Prestige Class a couple of months ago, and there was no opportunity for the seat to swivel.

I have no idea how it’s done, the reclined, but that was about it.

Thanks DebH. Was Prestige worth the extra charge?

    HI Old Guy,

The seats can be turned, however passengers are not able to rotate the seats themselves.  You can ask a train attendant 🙂

Hi Old Guy.  We caught a few special trains in Switzerland including first class on the Bernina Express (https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/bernina-express/) and Excellence Class on the Glacier Express (https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/glacier-express/)  .  I felt that both of those were worth the money, even though they were much more expensive, particularly the Glacier.

Whilst the Prestige upgrade was only around 20 CHF from memory, I didn’t think it was worth it.  We barely saw any staff after she showed us to our seat and took a drink order from us.  She returned later to deposit our pre-ordered charcuterie plates, and that was it.  No explanation of how the seats worked.  Compared to the amazing service in Excellence on the GEX, it was a little disappointing, and the train wasn’t busy and neither were the staff.

We were right next to first class and it looked just as good, and they appeared to get much better service.

This was the only one that I wouldn’t spend extra on again.
