Public transport Zurich airport – Binzmuhlestrasse

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is arriving in Zurich at 18:30 and staying on Binzmuhlestrasse. They want to know if they need Swiss Francs (CHF) for the fare from the airport to their hotel or if they can use a credit card to buy tickets. They have a 4-day rail pass starting the next day.

Key takeaways:
  • You can buy tickets at the airport with a credit card, either at a ticket office or machine.
  • It’s a good idea to carry some CHF, especially coins, for small purchases during your trip.
  • Consider using the SBB Mobile app to buy tickets before your arrival for convenience.

Our plane arrives Zurich at 1830. We have a hotel on Binzmuhlestrasse in Zurich. I see that there is service (rail/bus) from airport to walking distance to our hotel. Can you tell me if I will need CHF to pay for the fare or can I use a credit card in a kiosk to obtain a ticket. We have a 4 day rail pass but it starts the next day.

Hello Nobigdeal and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

You can buy tickets at a ticket office or at a machine and pay with credit card.

Or before you arrive you could use the highly-recommended SBB Mobile app (bit.ly/2ICIUHi) to buy tickets. Just show them on your phone.

As usual, Rockoyster has answered your question, precisely and well.

However, you’ll need to carry some CHF, including coins, during your trip.

I think you’ll find them near the banks of lockers in Zürich main station.

Or, you can buy something small from a convenience shop -Kiosk, Aperto, Volg and pay with paper money to get some change, as well.

Here are places to change money but I don’t think they help with getting coins.
