Hi there, I naively bought the Half-Fare Ticket from Le Prese to Chur, and Chur to Bruchs SG without doing any research (I know, I know). I’m trying to figure out how best to remedy this situation as I now know I need a Half-Fare Card, however I do not want to pay 120CHF for just 2 legs.

What is the most cost-effective way for me to remedy this? What would happen if I got on the train as-is? I assume I’d be fined, but not sure how much, or if I’d have to get off the train.

    I appreciate your help.

    Hi kitkatcody,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

You are required to travel with a valid ticket, so the ticket inspector would fine you for traveling with a partially valid ticket. I think the rate is CHF70 or CHF75?  Best to check with SBB.

I am not sure when you are traveling but you may want to look into  Supersaver tickets for your trip.  If available they can be quite reasonably priced.  They are time and date specific so if you miss the departure you will need a new ticket.  All details below:

Alternatively, Saver Day Pass tickets are valid all day and Switzerland wide.  If purchased early, these can be reasonably priced too.  Further information on a Saver Day Pass in the attached link:

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
