Purchasing tickets through SBB app

Short summary – read this first

CMarie is trying to figure out if she can use her husband's SBB app to buy train tickets for both of them. She wants to know if it's easier to buy tickets on one app or if they should use separate accounts for their purchases.

Key takeaways:
  • You can buy tickets for two people using one SBB app by adding both passengers in the settings.
  • It's not necessary to create separate accounts; using one app is convenient for buying tickets together.
  • Make sure to pre-add passenger details in the app for seamless ticket purchase.

We are preparing to purchase tickets on the SBB App. Does it allow one person to use their own app to purchase for 2 people? If so, we would purchase my husband’s ticket and my ticket together unless there is an advantage to purchase separate SBB tickets on our own SBB Apps. We’re uncertain if it would be easier if we purchased the tickets separately on our own App or just leave it on his account only?

    Hi CMarie,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Yes, it is possible to purchase tickets from the SBB app for 2 different passengers. First you need to set this up in the app by adding your details on your husband’s SBB app. Click on Settings, under My Account choose Travelers, then add passenger information. Once this is done, your husband should be able to purchase tickets for you too.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Anna,

Thank you for your reply. We were also wondering, does it cause difficulty presenting the ticket for both people on one App? Would it be better to have separate SBB accounts and Apps on separate phones or is it just as easy to have on one phone App?

    Thank you,

    Cindy

    Hi Cindy,

That’s no problem. I would not create separate accounts myself. But of course you can if you want to.
