Child safety seat required in Swiss cars & taxis?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler has planned a two-week vacation in Switzerland with their family, including a 1.5-year-old son and grandparents. They will primarily use the 15-day Swiss Travel Pass for convenience while traveling to cities like Geneva, Zermatt, and Zurich. They want to confirm if a child safety seat is only necessary in cars and taxis, since they will take a taxi from the airport to their stay and back.

Key takeaways:
  • The Swiss Travel Pass is a great way to travel conveniently across various cities in Switzerland, so be sure to utilize it for public transport.
  • Since child safety seats are typically required only in cars and taxis, you should be fine using public transportation without one.
  • Trains from Geneva and Zurich airports are easy to access and provide a comfortable travel option.

Hello, my family and I have planned a two week vacation around Switzerland and are leaving in about a month. It will be myself, my wife, our 1.5yr old son, and my parents. We are all planning on getting the 15 day Swiss Rail Pass for the freedom and convenience that it offers. We are planning on using public transportation and the rail for the majority of our travels from and around Geneva, Lutry, Zermatt, Grindelwald/Lauterbrunnen, and Zurich. From what I have read, we are required a child safety seat only in cars and taxis, Is this correct?? We will probably be using a taxi from Geneva airport to our first stay location, and then from our last stay location to the Zurich airport. Thank you for any and all information.
