  • Double-check all details before purchasing any passes to avoid mistakes in the future.
  • Use the SBB tourist web shop for better customer service and quicker responses.

Hi All I’m sorry if this has been covered before. I just bought an 8-Day Swiss Travel Pass on SBB’s website for me and my wife. Accidentally I have selected today’s date(April 14) as start date of travel. But my tavel is planned on April 26, 2022.

I have requested for refund immediately but after I spotted the wrong date but I’m not sure I will get it as trip is already started as per date on travel pass. I am also not sure SBB tum around time on such refund requests.

Has anyone ever experienced the same problem or made the same mistake I just did. Do you know if the starting date can still be changed or money will be refunded.

    Hi Sugun,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! Passes cannot be changed, but they can be cancelled and ordered again. If you purchased from the SBB tourist web shop at https://shop.switzerlandtravelcentre.com/#/en/home, you can cancel for free until 4 business days before the pass start date. That start date is a problem in your case, but I recommend to get in touch with them anyway and see what they offer: http://www.myswissalps.com/aboutus/partners/sbb. I checked the rules and worst case you’ll get a refund of 67% for an 8-day Swiss Travel Pass that has been “used” on the first day of validity. I hope it will turn out better for you.

As for ordering a new pass: you’ll have plenty of time for that as it gets e-mailed to you within 5 minutes.

Please do let us know how this turns out, or if you need more help. Good luck!

    Thanks Arno

I reached them over phone for couple of times, they listen to the whole story and simple disconnected my call.

I have sent an email and also requested for refund over their online form but do you have any idea what is SBB standard time to respond via email.

Just FYI: I have booked the passes via sbb.ch, and sent a mail to ticketshop@sbb.ch

    Hi Sugun,

I’m sorry to hear how that went! You booked at the domestic website of the Swiss Federal Railways. That’s separate from their tourist web shop, and not something I can provide much help on. I don’t know how quick they respond. Indeed, e-mailing them is probably best. I suggest to buy the new pass via the tourist web shop, but don’t do so until you know how the refund will be dealt with. Hopefully you’ll get a reply soon!

    Thanks for the help Arno.

After multiple calls to SBB , Yesterday SBB has agreed to refund 84% of the total amount. I have received the refund today.

    Learnings from my side:

    * Double check the dates and amount before submitting the form.

    * sbb.ch has small team and may not respond promptly, we have to follow up rigorously

    * Be Patient, if you cannot explain your situation properly, team at sbb.ch are less patient and are going to disconnect the call ( it took 5 attempts for me to make them understand )

    * Book via tourist web shop where they had better workforce to respond immediately
