I have looked on the SBB app and can’t see where it shows which trains are those covered by the Regional Pass Bernese Oberland. For example on the SBB app if I try to book a trip from Lucern to Interlaken it will show me available trains and times and cost but it doesn’t tell me which ones are already covered by the BO pass. How do I determine which ones I don’t need to pay for because I have the BO pass ahead of time by looking at SBB app?

that is true, you won’t know that from the SBB app. Download the validity map of the Regional Pass Bernese Oberland from here: http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland/validity. Also you can browse the list on that page.
You can travel for free with your Regional Pass Bernese Oberland by any train from Lucerne to Interlaken that goes via Meiringen. See the red lines on the validity map.

Thank you for the reply. I did download the validity map for the BO pass but where can I find information for the specific train numbers and times that they leave so that I will know it is a train covered by the pass and also that I am getting on the proper train? You gave an example that I could travel from Lucern to Interlaken as long as the train leaves via Meiringen and so does this mean if the train does not leave via Meiringen it is not covered I assume? I guess I just don’t know where to find a train schedule for specific train numbers and times they leave that are covered by the BO pass. I’m not going to the top of Jung Frau and I have switched my stay length to seven days and basing it out of Lucerne so I thought this pass would be beneficial since it covers trips back to my hotel in Lucern.

The train number and specific time – they don’t matter. You can travel by any train if the map says that the route is for free with your pass. You do not need any specific timetable for the pass. Just check the route on the map.
All train from Lucerne to Interlaken goes via Meiringen, but in some cases you have to change in Meiringen.

I know it doesn’t matter to the train personnel which or what time I will take a free BO covered red line train. However, it definitely will matter to me what time the trains are leaving. Is the only way to find out which specific train I need to get on is to go to the train station, get in line and ask the ticket agent? I say this because I assume once at the train station in Lucerne for example I won’t be able to tell one train from another unless all red line trains are colored red. Picture me at a train station with the BO pass and looking at a lot of trains parked waiting to leave. How will I know which train is a covered by my pass train ahead of getting to the station? How will I know when it departs because I don’t want to waste time if it doesn’t leave soon? How will I know which train to transfer to in Meiringen? Of course in all of this I am assuming I’m not having to go get a ticket because my pass already covers the tip so I cannot get these questions answered from information on a printed out ticket. So how will I know which train to get on if I want to leave at an certain time of day? Sorry but I am used to trains on a schedule.

The SBB timetable or SBB mobile app is what you are looking for then. If you are not familiar with the timetable start here, with this short guide: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable.
You search for Lucerne – Interlaken in the timetable, you choose a train (any train that the timetable shows). Your RPBO will be valid on that route.

Thanks for your reply! If I’m understanding this now correctly you were saying the SBB mobile app or timetable can be used to determine what trains to specifically take and the times they are leaving to go to certain places. However since all trains showing on the SBB app will not be necessarily covered by the BO pass I believe I will still have to ask someone at the train station whether or not a train I have picked out from the SBB app will indeed be covered by the BO pass or not. Correct?

You can take any train which travels within the RPBO validity area. It doesn’t matter what train.
For example: you wish to travel from Lucerne to Interlaken.
If you look at the RPBO validity map, both destinations are covered. by the RPBO. You can look up the train schedules on the SBB timetable by entering Lucerne as your departure point and Interlaken as destination. When you click ‘search’, the timetable will display the fastest connection and you simply choose the one that is most suitable for you.Let us know if you need more clarification.
