Rigi Scheidegg -Kräbel free with Swiss Travel Pass
A traveler named Toodaliu is planning a trip to Mt Rigi and wants to confirm if all transportation is covered by the Swiss Travel Pass, specifically the cable car from Rigi Scheidegg to Kräbel. They intend to take a boat from Lucerne to Vitznau, then hike and return to Lucerne, and need clarity on the validity of these routes under the pass.
- The cable car from Rigi Scheidegg to Kräbel is free with the Swiss Travel Pass.
- The entire trip you’re planning, including the train back to Lucerne, is fully covered by the Swiss Travel Pass.
- For detailed information, refer to the validity map available on the Swiss Travel Pass website.

Hi,
I am aware that the following routes are free for Mt Rigi with the Swiss Travel Pass:
Train from Arth-Goldau or Vitznau to Mount Rigi: free
Cableway from Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad: free
Train to Arth-Goldau: free
Boat to Vitznau or Weggis: free
Cableway from Kräbel to Rigi Scheidegg: free
What I’m unclear about is whether the reverse (Rigi Scheidegg to Kräbel) is free. I have been looking on the validity map on SBB and it’s unclear. I know in general, the cableway to Rigi Scheidegg is new in the Swiss Travel Pass for 2018/2019. However, it’s unclear if it’s just one way.
I ask as I am planning on doing the following visit to Mt Rigi and trying to determine if the entire trip is fully covered under the STP:
- Boat ride from Lucerne to Vitznau, then cogwheel train from Vitznau to Rigi Klum (peak) = all covered by STP?
- Hike Classic Trail and Panorama Trail (Rigi Kulm to Rigi Kaltbad to Rigi Scheidegg)
- Take a cable car from Rigi-Scheidegg down to Kräbel, which goes to the station at Arth-Goldau = unclear if coverd by STP
- Catch the train back to Lucerne = all coverd by STP?
I believe everything is covered except the cablecar from Rigi Scheidegg to Kräbel ? Could someone clarify?
