Hi,

we’ve booked our air tickets and accommodations last year for our visit in Sept this year. Were looking forward to visit Switzerland until this Covid19. Wonder if its safe to visit Switzerland once its open to other nationality especially Asians? We’re afraid to visit because of this stigma against Asians because of Covid 19. Will we get bashed up and receive ill treatment? I did read somewhere that a student was mocked for being Asian and by a group of seniors. Will be so disappointed If need to cancel our trip.

Hi Nyap,
I totally understand your concerns but you shouldn’t worry too much. There are many Swiss citizens of Asian origins living here in Switzerland and it hasn’t been a problem for them since the Covid19.
Of course racist cases happen all over the world (towards all races) but this shouldn’t prevent you to travel and visit other countries. Here in Switzerland there is a lot of tolerance and locals are generally very open minded and always welcome other nationalities.

Well done for asking on a site like this. Recently there is a lot of misinformation being spread by China about “unsafe”Western countries. My wife is Asian and feels Australia is the safest country she has ever visited. There can be found incidence of isolated racism in any country, including all Asian countries. I hope such reports don’t dissuade you from visiting very welcoming countries like Switzerland.
