Saint Bernard/husky tours in Switzerland in July

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a visit to Switzerland this summer and is eager to find a day activity that involves interacting with St. Bernard dogs or huskies for her daughter. They've found some multi-day hikes but are specifically looking for options available in July and are open to activities across Switzerland.

Key takeaways:
  • Check out Barryland in Martigny for a summer day hike with St. Bernard dogs.
  • Explore online resources for husky activities in Switzerland, such as Jura Escapades and whitepod.com for immersive experiences.
  • Confirm that many husky sled excursions are not available in summer, so look for alternative dog-centered activities.

We’re visiting this summer, and my daughter would absolutely love to do a tour of some sort of interaction with St. Bernard dogs or huskies. I’ve seen a multi-day hike with St. Bernards (we are looking for a day activity) and husky sled excursions (but none in July), but I haven’t found anything in July. Have you had a good experience with any dog-related excursions? We’re open to all regions of Switzerland. Thank you!

Hi Asd1001, thanks for joining MySwissAlps!

Finding husky/dog tours for July is a bit challenging indeed. It’s mostly a snow-related activity. There are some year-round options though. I think that ‘Barryland’ in Martigny offers 1-day hikes in summer: barryland.ch/en.

In addition, you can have a look under “Husky activities in Switzerland” at http://www.myswissalps.com/activities/winter/snow and specifically check out the below suggestions:

I hope you’ll find something that makes your daughter’s dream come true! Let us know if you have further questions about your trip to Switzerland, we’re happy to help.
