Saver Day Pass: activation and Grindelwald buses
A traveler is planning a trip to Switzerland and has been researching the Saver Day Pass for transportation. They need clarification on activation requirements, ticket usage, and whether the pass covers the bus network in Grindelwald. This trip seems to focus on efficient travel within the region.
- The Saver Day Pass automatically becomes valid on the chosen date, no activation is necessary.
- You can use the Saver Day Pass as your transportation ticket without having to visit a counter.
- Most public bus services in Grindelwald are covered by the Saver Day Pass, but mountain bus routes are only partially discounted.

Hi dear forumers,
First off, just wanted to take this chance to thank the forum mods for managing this forum. It has been my single source of truth when it comes to planning my Swiss trip.
So I have been some homework and calculation and found that Saverday pass work the best for my itinerary. However, there are a few things that I still need clarification on:
1. Does this pass require activation on the date of travel? Or does it become valid automatically when the time comes?
2. With this, do I have to go to the counter to ask for transportation ticket, or it itself is enough to present and get onboard transport?
3. I will be traveling Grindelwald. They have their own bus network there and I can’t find anywhere that says they are covered by Saverday pass. However, I saw from one of your pages that “In principle, all public bus services are free of charge.” I know Saverday pass is a no-frill pass that focuses on core transportation network. It shys away from mountain-related route so I am interested to know if Grindelwald bus is covered?
Thanks.
