Given the current heat, I suggest you travel from Lausanne to Murten via Col des Mosses. You can stop for cool mountain air (and a glass of Rivella, of course) at the mountain pass (1445 m above sea level). The drive through the Nature Park Gruyère-Pays d’En Haut will be quite scenic, and typical of the Swiss Pre-Alps. Other possible stops are Gruyères (castle, cheese factory) and Fribourg (old town).
