Scenic hotel for hiking around Bernese Oberland

Short summary – read this first

Ayhan and a group of three families are planning a hiking trip in the Bernese Oberland from June 28 to July 5. They are looking for advice on where to stay, specifically a nice hotel with scenic views and good dining options to enhance their trip experience.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider staying at Hotel Seeburg on Lake Brienz for easy access to day trips and beautiful views.
  • Hotel Belvédère in Wengen is recommended for its family-friendly atmosphere and great dining options, especially if you book a south-facing room.
  • Check out hotels in Mürren for more options with stunning scenery.
  • Belvédère Strandhotel in Spiez is centrally located, offering a good restaurant with lake views.

    Hi,

We are planning to hike around (moderate hikers) the Bernese Oberland between 28 June and 5 July 2016.

We are agroup of 3 families (16+) and would like to have an advice where to stay in Bernese Oberland region – A nice hotel with a scenic lake or mountain view – with good food suggestions will definitely help us to arrange this trip.

    Thanks a lot

    Ayhan

    Hi Aylan,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! Here are a few suggestions:

Hotel Seeburg on Lake Brienz in Ringgenberg. It’s 5-10 minutes on foot to the rail station to start your day trips.
    – South facing rooms of Hotel Belvédère in Wengen. There are many others here too.
    – Many hotels in Mürren also offer wonderful views.
Belvédère Strandhotel in Spiez, which is more centrally located. With a good restaurant overlooking the lake.

Does this match with your preferences? To be more specific, it helps if you let us know what your budget is. Note that the Bernese Oberland is much larger than the Jungfrau region. I’m not sure which area you have in mind?

    Hi Aylan

I’m a regular traveller to the Bernese Oberland and always stay in the hotel Belvedere in Wengen. The Hotel is wonderful offering a buffet breakfast, 4 course buffet evening meal and indeed wonderful views. It is family friendly and the staff there are welcoming and very friendly too. If you want the best views then you need a south facing room either on the 4th or 5th floor.
