As we will be making this journey more than once to cover the various mountains in the Lucerne area, which route should we take so we get the best views of mountains and lakes between Bern and Lucerne?

    Thanks,

    Monika

    Hi Monika.

There are no mountains odr lakes along the most direct route via Langnau.

There will be occasional glimpses of the Jungfrau massif to the south along that route, but because it follows level valley floors, they are not prominent. If, however, you get off at Konolfingen, and ride to Groshöchstetten and possibly beyond, you will have some nice but brief views of the Alps from a higher location. Walks in the Emmental area on elevations throughout the middle of Switzerland can afford some nice views., but they are not on the direct lines; you’ll have to take secondary lines and get off and walk or bus to more remote locations. They can pop up into your view quite unexpectef=dly as you walk or drive almost anywhere in the hills.

A couple of examples are attached, with locations noted on the titles.

The high speed route goes north from Luzern and you could see the Sempachersee as you go past it..

This map shows the train lines if you zoom in to zoom level 32:

A very indirect route is to use the Golden Pass Route via the Brunig Pass, Meiringen, Interlaken and then north to Bern.

    Quite scenic.
