Zermatt is actually a good place to view the solar eclipse. Just pick an elevated spot without any obstructions. The higher the better. However bear in mind, weather condition may affect visibility. Hi DTK Family,,
The maximum eclipse in Zermatt is said to be at about 7.15pm so I suggest, if you’re in Zermatt the day before at that time, you check the position of the sun  and where direct light is reaching. That will give you good ideas of a suitable viewpoint.
Remember: DO NO LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN! (Sorry about that but it has to be said)

Since the solar eclipse happens just before sunset, being up high in the mountains with a clear west- northwest view of the horizon will be essential. Don’t forget to bring eclipse glasses so you view the event safely! I’m sure they must be selling them in Zermatt.
