Spelling mistake in name on Swiss Half Fare Card

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Kanth1999 is concerned about a spelling error on their Swiss Half Fare card and train ticket, specifically a missing letter in their last name. They want to know if this will cause any issues when boarding the train and if there's a way to fix it before their travel.

Key takeaways:
  • A one-letter difference in your name is typically not a problem as long as your passport number is correct.
  • Double-check your other details, like date of birth, to ensure they match your passport.
  • If you're unsure, contact customer support for the Swiss Half Fare card to address the issue before you travel.

Hello, Can anyone please if there will be an issue at the time of boarding the train if there is a spelling error on the name on the Swiss Fare card bought on line and if so, is there a way out to fix it in advance of boarding the train? By oversight there was one of the letters of the last name (Surname) got missed. Now both the Swiss Half Fare card issued and the train ticket booked (both bought on line) are missing a letter as compared to the passport. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Kanth1999 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Was it the last letter of the name missing? This might be due to the of the field length limit on names – longer names can’t fit. Either way, a one letter difference should not be an issue as long as the passport number is correct.

    Hello Lucas,

Thanks for your prompt response. It was one of the letters in the middle (auto correct issue!) – however, other details such as, passport number, DOB, etc were correct. Being a first time visitor(s) to the country, just wanted to be doubly sure.

    Thanks again,

    K
