    Hello all

Originally my friend and I wanted to travel through Switzerland in the middle of winter, however we’ve come across a number of stumbling blocks with hotels, activities, transport etc. being closed during this time, so we’re looking at other alternatives, being Spring or Autumn. Definitely do not want to go in the middle of summer – too tourist-heavy. I see that a lot of the photos taken in Spring are very green and pretty. I was just wondering if it would be the same in Autumn – along with all the obviously golden leaves on the trees, but would all the grassy areas still be as green in Autumn as they appear in Summer? Many thks.

    Hello Crazy Kiwi,

I personally am a great fan of spring AND autumn in Switzerland, whereas I would give autumn some more credit for colours. However this is my opinion, other might differ.

    Hi Crazy Kiwi

Where you plan to go and what you want to do can make a difference as well. There is maintenance work on some of the cable cars in springtime which would close them for a while. Also if you want to do any hiking in the mountains many of the trails will not be passable due to snow until June or rarely July. On the other hand there is not as much wildflowers in bloom in Autumn as in late spring or early summer.
