    Hi Sukunag,

Do you mean the Swiss Travel Pass? That pass is completely filled out when you receive it through e-mail. All you have to do it print it, and you can’t change what’s on there. You can best order your passes when you have the new passport number. If there’s no time for that, you can also order the adult passes online and get the Swiss Family Card at any staffed station in Switzerland. That will take a few to 30 minutes, depending on the queue.

Thanks Arno for your response. Yes, it is Swiss Travel Pass (STP). Only one of my child’s passport is up for renewal, should I add the other two when I buy our pass OR I am better off getting the Family Card for all three at the station? Is there staff at the Zurich airport station? If yes, is there a time during which they are available? We are reaching in the evening 5:10.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Sukunag,

In that case I’d just purchase the adult passes and get one Swiss Family Card for all children once in Switzerland. Yes, there will be staff at the airport train station in the late afternoon. Waiting times vary as this is one of the busier stations. You will need to show them the printout of your Swiss Travel Passes, and everyone’s passport. It will be no problem, it just takes a little time.

    Hi Arno,

I have contacted Rail Europe as well at the same time regarding using child’s old/expired passport number to get the Family Card at the time of buying Swiss Travel Pass and below is their response:

So what I suggest is you just enter the old passport number of one of your kid and just process the booking. And during travel you can carry the old passport and also the new passport which is being renewed. So it is completely justify-able and you can show both the passport if required. Since they only check the name on the passport matches on the Rail passes.

What do you suggest? I want to have everyone’s pass printed and ready before our departure.

    Thanks.

    Hi Sukunag,

If that’s what Rail Europe suggests then I guess it’s fine. I haven’t come across this solution before, but indeed train staff can verify everything if they want to.

We had a friend who did that with a visa recently. He ordered the visa using the old passport number before the new passport was issued. He carried both passports while he was travelling and it was fine. That was Vietnam, though, not Switzerland.

Thanks Arno and Paddington. I am going to do it today and should be fine. Also verified from HappyRail and below is their response:

Yes you can book this already, the passport number of the children aren’t printed on the Family Card.

Thanks for letting us know Sukunag. I assumed the passport numbers were on there too, but it has been a long time since I got my hands on a Swiss Family Card. So, good news!

    Hi,

Ordered our Swiss Travel Pass on raileurope-world.com yesterday night. Already received the adults STP (within 8 hrs) but not the Family Card for the kids. Do they send it separately later? How long do they take for that? Thanks.

    Hi Sukunag,

I would expect the Swiss Family Card to be included. If you do not receive it by Tuesday I recommend to contact them: https://www.raileurope -world.com/spip.php?page=contact. Do check your spam mailbox too.
