Stay at Grindelwald vs Interlaken – suggestions
A traveler is planning a three-night stay from May 3rd to May 6th with their family, considering either Interlaken or Grindelwald. They want advice on traveling with a young child, the convenience of each location, and whether their trips to Jungfraujoch and other spots will be covered by the Swiss Travel Pass. After receiving feedback, they've decided to book a hotel in Grindelwald instead.
- Consider staying in Grindelwald for closer access to major attractions like Jungfraujoch and Schilthorn, even if it adds some travel time from Interlaken.
- If you choose to stay near Interlaken, taking a bus to your accommodation may be safer and quicker than walking, especially with luggage.
- The Swiss Travel Pass includes free bus rides from certain locations, which can help reduce travel costs during your stay.

Hello folks.
We are looking at staying three nights either at Interlaken or Grindelwald from May 3rd to May6th. We are a family of 3 including a 3 year old kid. If I choose Interlaken, I was looking at staying at Gasthof Schonegg BB (100CHF /night) which is a 20 minute walk from the Interlaken OST station. This could be a problem when we first arrive in Interlaken with luggage etc, would’nt it ?
Now, if I stay in Grindlewald, would it cause an additional overhead in terms of the travel time ? Would i have more connections to take every time increasing my travel time significantly ? We are planning on covering Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn and Lauterbrunnen. Also, will my connection to be Grindelwald be covered in a Swiss Travel Pass ?
Looking for your feedback and guidance. Any advice truly appreciated.
thanks
