Bashnaini is planning a trip to Switzerland this summer and wants to know if the Tell Pass covers the Stoos funicular, which is the steepest funicular railway in the world. Other users confirm that the Tell Pass does cover this funicular and provide helpful details about its validity and bonus partners.
Key takeaways:
The Tell Pass provides free travel on various transportation modes including funiculars, cable cars, buses, and trains within the validity area.
To find the list of bonus partners and the extra offers for Tell Pass holders, check the validity map provided on the Tell Pass website.
Use the SBB timetable to plan your transport connections while traveling in Switzerland.

however, I noticed that the validity map does not show if the transportation mean is on bus or train or cable car or boat .i.e. All route line with the same color.
That’s right. This map just shows you where the Tell Pass is valid. It doesn’t differentiate the mode of transportation as the Tell Pass provides free travel on trains, cable cars, funiculars, buses and boats within the validity area. You can use the SBB timetable to look up transport schedules and search for the best connections: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable
Tell Pass is like all regional and local ‘ride at will’ passes as follows:
1) the validity area covers all types of transport (in Switzerland the network of transport is comprehensive and it is not considered important what type of vehicle it is as long as it gets you to destination). This is why the Tell Pass validity map doesn’t differentiate between transport modes.
2) Bonus partners or bonus offers are ‘extras’ offered by companies or resorts in the area of the Pass – for example discounts on swimming pool entry if you hold the pass
If you download the Tell-Pass validity map via link that Anna provided earlier. You will also see all the Tell-Pass bonus partners listed on pages 2 and 3.
Hello, Waloo. The funicular ride up to Stoos is covered by several passes, including the Tell Pass & the Swiss Travel Pass, but if you want to continue to go up chairlift to the Fronalpstock there is no discount. The past two years the cost for round trip has been 27.50chf. You can also hike up or down, including a walk that’s halfway up the mountain where there is a changeover on the chairlift. I’ve walked down to Stoos from that point. It’s an easy, pretty hike complete with cows in the summertime. There is some scree, so trekking poles are a help. I’m assuming the same applies for the Klingenstock. There’s a gorgeous ridge hike between the two peaks, suitable for older children. This 70 year old body did part of it, but did turn around as some sections were too steep for me.
