Swiss Airlines carry-on recommendations

Short summary – read this first

Stacey is traveling to Switzerland in September for her first international flight and needs advice on carry-on luggage for Swiss Air. She's worried that her carry-on bag and personal backpack may exceed the airline's size requirements and seeks recommendations for suitable bags.

Key takeaways:
  • Check the Swiss Air website for the exact dimensions allowed for cabin luggage and personal items.
  • Consider looking for soft-sided bags as they can be easier to fit under the seat if they are slightly larger.
  • Explore options from brands that specifically cater to airline carry-on standards for better fitting choices.

    Hello,

I will be travelling to Switzerland on Swiss Air in September and would like some advice on carry on luggage. This will actually be my very 1st international flight. Most carry on bags that I have been seeing come up an inch or two beyond Swiss Air’s requirements once you factor in the wheels and the handle. Has anyone flown Swiss Air recently and have any carry on bag that they can recommend? I’m trying to not check any baggage. I also have a small backpack that I want to use as a personal item, but it also seems a couple inches beyond the requirement. It can probably squish a little once it is under the seat. Just wondering how strict they will be on that. Any advise?

    Thanks,

    Stacey

    Hi Stacey,

From my experience, you are allowed to take along one cabin bag and a personal bag (or backpack) with you on the flight. You can check the permitted dimensions on the Swiss Airline website: http://www.swiss.com/ch/en/prepare/baggage/hand-baggage

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Anna

Thank you, Anna. Appreciate it. Wondering if you or anyone might be able to recommend a particle carry on that fits these requirements. Most bags seem just a little too big.

    Hello Stacey,

I did a quick google and this company offer different sizes of luggage for cabin carry on. I am not sure if it is what you are looking for but hopefully it gives you an idea.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda

    Hi Yolanda,

Thanks so much for looking into that. That company has some nice looking bags that seem to fall within the requirements. Unfortunately, they do not ship to the US. But, that does give me hope that the size I’m looking for is out there 🙂 I will try narrowing in on the search a bit. Still open to recommendations.

    Appreciate the help,

    Stacey
