Hi! Just wondering if there are any protocols in going through security at Swiss airports, Geneva in particular? For instance, in the U.S., unless travelers have a preferred pass, no liquids/lotions over 3 ounces are allowed in a carry-on bag. Anything similar in Switzerland that I should know beforehand?

Are you US citizens? Are you flying to/from Switzerland and a non- USA destination?

Carry-on liquid is limited to 100ml which I’ve found to be the rule in every airport everywhere regardless of destination.

For more details on Geneva airport and links to the airport’s official website (to read about their security information) look here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/airports/geneva

<<“Yes, we are US citizens flying to/from Switzerland.”>>

Then the minimum standards for security will be governed by the US procedures and rules, plus anything else that your airline chooses to add. Delta, my preferred airline, has a small security questionnaire, in a face to face conversation with a member of airport staff. I’m not sure that is officially required anymore by the US, although it might be. I recall that the requirement may have been relaxed from being universal a few years ago.

As far as i know, the only direct flights to Geneva are on Swiss, although they are code-sharred wtih United. There are plenty of one stop connecting routes.

And, the airport staff may add something. It never happened in Switzerland, but in Germany a couple of times a hand “pat down” was required.

I’d certainly check the link that Lucas provided.

I hope and expect that your first trip to Switzerland will go well. 😉

A very helpful map due to information on specific trails:

They have pages on all forms of personal transport. I find it hard to operate, but some of its information is uniquely valuable:

    Note the altitude profiles

    Useful in the Berner Oberland:
