Hi, I am travelling from India to Switzerland for about 6 days and based on the passes, conclude that Swiss Half Fare Card is more economical for me.If I purchase this pass 2 months in advance and buy the discounted tickets on the spot at the rail stations, will their prices fluctuate as the date approaches or will they remain constant throughout?

Is it better to buy them in advance or can we just buy on the spot at the stations?

    Thanks

Hi Abhi19 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The best pass depends very much on your itinerary. I presume you’ve done your full itinerary and then calculated the different options? http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass

The Swiss Half Fare card http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard can be used in combination with Saver Day Passes http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass or 1 Day Passes http://www.myswissalps.com/on edaytravelpass.

The Saver Day fluctuates in price so you need to book it as early as possible whilst the 1 Day pass price will stay constant throughout.

If you want to make the most savings, it would be best to buy Saver Day passes as early as possible.

If not, be sure to check if a 4 day Swiss Travel Pass http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass isn’t cheaper for your itinerary (+ Saver day passes) for instance for the remaining 2 days.

    Maria.

    Hello Maria,

I got your point. However after checking the day saver pass etc. I find that the Half Fare pass is the best. The Day saver pass is not economical. So how & where do I buy the normal ticket using the Half fare pass? Also do i need to buy them in advance or can I buy them over the counter at the station? Do their prices fluctuate?

    Thanks

    Hi Abhi

As explained before you already have 2 choices that can be used with the Half Fare card, the Saver Day and the 1 day pass, and I have already explained regarding the price fluctuations, please click on the links to read the full explanation and details of where to buy them.

The third choice which is not as economical is to get point to point tickets, although it would be the simplest way and least hassle: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/switzerland halffare

Thank You very much Maria. You made it a lot easy now.

I got 1 last Question for you.. 🙂 Do the point to point tickets prices vary or are they always constant?

    Regards, Abhi

No problem, the point to point ticket prices stay the same 🙂
