Swiss itinerary – base town suggestions
-
Team,
Thanks for your earlier reposnses, we have been able to finalise our wish list for the Swiss Holiday. Our vacation schedule permits us to travel between 1st & 15th June 2017 only. We plan to travel to Zurich, Luzern, Interlaken, Zermatt, St. Moritz, Zurich using the Swiss Rail Pass. Over this trip we would like to visit Mt. Titlis, Mt. Pilatus, Jungfraujoch, Gronergat, Matterhorn, St Moritz via Glacier Express. Few questions:
1. Which one between Luzern and Interlaken would you advise to be a base location for the first 6 nights/ 5 days of our trip where we intend to cover the Central Swiss and Benese Oberland regions such that we can make day trips to each of these from the base town. How long does each of these trips typicaly take assuming we can start the day at 830/9AM post breakfast.
2. For Zermatt, we would like to experience the town so plan to stay there. We will have one clear day apart from the afternoon of arrvial from Luzern/ Interlaken. Can Matterhorn and Gronergat be visited in a single day ? Or is it possible to cover one of these on the day of arrival itself ?
3. Does the Rail Pass include all Boats, Busses, Cable Cars, Gondolas, Cog Wheel Trains etc apart from the normal trains ? Is there a special ticket for Glacier Express ?
Rgds,
