Any seasonal changes in Swiss train schedules?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named JPAR is planning a trip to Switzerland in June and wants to know if the departure times of Swiss trains change by season. They are looking for reliable information about train schedules for their travel days.

Key takeaways:
  • The Swiss train timetable remains consistent throughout the year, with the main schedules set annually in December, so no changes will occur for your June travel.
  • Minor service differences may occur on weekdays for commuter trains, but these do not affect main lines.
  • Watch for summer-only mountain train services like the one to Schynige Platte, which may not be available in winter.

    Hi JPAR,

What you find on the timetable now, will not change. http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

The schedule is updated once per year and if there are differences in summer vs. winter or Sundays vs. Mondays, it is still set for the year. 🙂

    Cheers!

European Train timetables changes once a year in early December.

Main line Swiss train timetables stay the same throughout the year – unless there is engineering work

on the track. Apart from that there may be very minor differences between levels of service (for example on a few lines there are trains that run Monday – Friday only because they are aimed at commuters)

There are a few mountain tourist lines that are summer only (such as Schynige Platte)
