    Hello Bethl.

    Welcome to MySwissAlps

The Swiss Travel Pass is a wonderful ticket, as it covers all forms of public transport, Not Just Trains.  As a generalisation it is valid on all Swiss public transport,: trains, buses, trams and even the boats on the lakes.  The one big exclusion is that lines which simply ‘go up mountains’ (rather than to a village) are USUALLY not included.

You really must study the map which shows the validity of the Swiss Travel Pass.

The Wonderful Lucerne Area. Firstly, the boats on the main route from Lucerne to Fluelen run approximately hourly all year round – the boats are still essential public transport for some of the lakeside villages.  But, better still, there are now no less than five ‘mountain’ destinations dotted around the area where the STP does give you free travel ‘to the top’.  They are Rigi, Stanserhorn, Stoos (but not the Fronalpstock), Klewenalp  and Stockhutte.

Routes over high mountain passes are normally included..  The Bernina railway line gets up to 2,253 metres above sea level, but it is a through main line railway so the STP is valid.  Not far away is postbus route 811 which runs hourly 365-days-a-year from Zernez to Mals.  As with all other Swiss postbus routes, the STP is valid on this spectacular route.

    I could go on…

    PLEASE STUDY THE VALIDITY MAP.

    Best wishes

    Roger

    Hi Bethl,

I agree with Roger, best to take a look at the Swiss Travel Pass validity map when you have a moment to view all the inclusions.  Essentially all the solid lines you see on the map is covered with a Swiss Travel Pass, the routes that are dotted / broken, would mean you would need to purchase a discounted ticket.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
