Price difference advance Swiss Travel Pass buying?

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Malraj is planning a trip to Switzerland and wants to know whether they can purchase the Swiss Travel Pass after arriving. They are also curious if there is a price difference between buying it in advance and on the spot.

Key takeaways:
  • It's cheaper to buy the Swiss Travel Pass online in advance than after arrival.
  • Purchasing online allows you to print the pass at home, so you can board the train immediately.
  • Having an online purchase gives you a backup option to print the pass again if it's lost or damaged.

    Hi Malraj,

You can buy after arrival, but it’s slightly cheaper to buy online at the moment (see the options here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/price). Also it is more convenient to buy online as you can print the pass at home and immediately board the first train after arrival. With bad luck you may even miss the first available train while spending time on the purchase. Also an online purchase gives you a nice backup as you can always print the pass again if you loose or damage it.

    Happy travels!
