Swiss Travel Pass extra bonus days promotion

Short summary – read this first

A traveler posted about a limited-time promotion for residents of Brazil and India, offering extra travel days on the Swiss Travel Pass. They need guidance on how to get the pass with approaching travel dates, especially concerning the shipping method and timing due to their upcoming trip in early September.

Key takeaways:
  • Purchase the Swiss Travel Pass online before December 26 to qualify for the promotion.
  • Extra travel days go hand in hand with specific conditions; make sure to check if your residency qualifies.
  • If time is tight, consider buying a regular pass upon arrival in Switzerland instead of relying on shipping.

    Hi Imran,

The promotion is happening now. The only restriction is buy before Dec. 26 and use before March 31, 2019.

As long as you book on the India RailEurope website above and have an Indian passport it should be fine. However, with promotions like these they sometimes issue physical passes (usually it’s via e-mail), to be shipped to your home address, and they may only allow an Indian address there. Also this mean that you need to allow some time for delivery. I can’t check as at the moment their site does not list the promoted passes for some reason. They should be back soon so you can have a look. Just start ordering and see what the options are.

    Dear Lucas,

thanks for the feedback. I see the option on the Brazil’s link but don’t see On indian Website. How about getting this physically in Switzerland as I am traveling on 7th Sept. so that means not much time for physical pass delivery.

    Looking forward for your reply.

    Thanks again.

Yes, If the Indian website for RailEurope won’t email the pass to you and insists to physically mail it to an Indian address (or you can’t find the promotion yet) then you are out of luck I am afraid (with only 2 days before your departure).

RailEurope doesn’t have an office that you can go into in Switzerland and buy the Swiss Travel Pass.
You can buy the regular 4 day Swiss Travel Pass online or buy the 4 day pass in Switzerland (I’m not sure what your original plan was to buy the rail pass?)

    Dear Lucas,

Thanks for the quick reply. I understood. Only option I have is to wait till offer is displayed on the rail Europe Indian website which is I don’t know why it’s not yet displayed.

My original plan was to take 8 days pass but my stay is only for 5 days.

    Thanks.

    Hi Imran,

I hope the Indian promo is back soon, but when looking at the one in Brazil they require physical shipping to Brazil only. So I don’t expect you to be able to take advantage of this unfortunately.

If you don’t travel much on your first or last day, a 4-day Swiss Travel Pass would be fine. You can get it with 5 minutes via e-mail though https://shop.switzerla ndtravelcentre.com/#/e n/home, or within 30 minutes and slightly cheaper via https://www.happyrail. com/en/pass/europe/swi tzerland/swiss-travel-pass-consecutive. Either way, double check that you select the correct first travel day while ordering.

    Hi Lucas,

You are right, the promotion is not reflecting on the RailEurope website.

I found the same promotion on swisstours.com, is it reliable? Can I book it via swisstours.com?

Don’t want to take any risk so can easily forego 1 free day 🙂

    Regards,

    Swati

    Hi Swati,

I have heard of them but don’t know anything about them. So I can’t say if they are credible or not. I did not see this promotion on their website by the way. Their standard prices in CHF are the same as the websites listed on this page: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/price.

    Hi Imran

If you are based in Mumbai /Delhi.

You can walk into swisstours office and get the promotional swisspass by hand.

    I did it last year.

    Hi,

According to Swiss Tours web site it was established in 1977 and is a 100% subsidiary of Swiss Air. They have 2 offices in Bombay. We have done our stay arrangements through Swiss Tours and found them to be quite professional & helpful and have no reason to doubt their credibility.

    Hi Pshah1,

If you live in India it will work, as you need an Indian address to ship the pass to.

    Hi Imran,

It’s only physical shipping to India unfortunately. You’d better buy your pass via https://shop.switzerla ndtravelcentre.com/#/e n/home. You’ll receive it via e-mail in 5 minutes.

    Have a good trip!
