We are on a 2 week tour around Europe, and I really want to be able to go to Switzerland even for a day. We’ll be in Milan on the March 30th for 1 day in Milan, 1 day in Como and 1 day in Verona. We’ll be leaving for Naples on ICE on April 2nd @ 2317. The easiest way that I am thinking of is via Bernina Express on April 1st, but the day tour from Milan is only up to St. Moritz which I won’t be able to see the Landwasser Viaduct. I was thinking to going to Zurich from Como in the evening then spend the night of March 31 in Zurich hotel near the train station. Take the train from Zurich to Chur to take the Bernina Express from Chur to Tirano. Please advise.

Hi JoieRNC and welcome to MySwissAlps!

I think that itinerary is possible. You can check schedules for all trains here.

For example, the trip from S. Giovanni, Como to Zurich is about 3 hours. The next morning however you need to be in Chur at 8:30 for the Bernina Express train to Tirano – so an early start in Zurich, and you would then arrive in Tirano at 12:45.

    Cheers,
    Lucas
