    Hi Rockoyster

Thanks for your post. Recovery is proving to be slow at the moment. My various conditions (and there are a few!) are being complicated now by cataracts so waiting to hear about treatment for those! However I am determined to get back to Switzerland in 2019 so will need to fine tune this year’s plans where necessary! Should have been travelling on Glacier Express today from St. Moritz to Brig and then on to Thun so feeling a bit sorry for myself. Hey ho – onwards and upwards as they say!

Have you got plans afoot for a further Swiss visit?

    Best wishes

    Maggie

    Hello Maggie,

I don’t think Annika will be chasing you with her red pen. I ran your Latin backward through Google Translate and it came out as: “I am glad that you are at home recovering. I hope you will be more writing while you are preparing to return to Switzerland.”

    Hi Maggie,

We hope to get back to Europe next year but it looks like our son may no longer be living on the Swiss border by then. Where he will be remains uncertain. There is also a marriage planned so the location of that will influence our plans. Portugal has been mentioned.

Cataract surgery these days is a cinch. I had one eye done about 20 years ago. The other I had done about 2 years ago. The advances in medical technology in that time is astounding. The first required a general anaesthetic and a patch for several says, the second some anaesthetic drops in the eye. It was quite a light show and my sight was perfect the following day.

    Best wishes.

    Hi Rockoyster

Nice to hear from you. I am not worried about the actual surgery – it’s the long waiting list here in UK that’s the problem and the complication that I am on various meds for other issues! It looks likely I will need to go private to get my preferredspecialist surgeon. He dealt with my husband’s cataracts because he also had a more complicated problem (different from mine!)

Anyway enough of that! So Portugal could be your next European adventure! We have never been to Portugal or Spain. Switzerland every summer but our short December break has taken us to Prague, Brussels, Vienna, Luxembourg and several cities in Germany (including multiple stays in Berlin when our daughter was there doing research). We have also spent a lovely week on the Amalfi coast in Italy one October and a spring break in Amsterdam. We are lucky to be able to fly to almost anywhere in Europe in just a couple of hours. it’s just a shame we left it till our late fifties before venturing forth!

    Best wishes

    Maggie
