Tickets from Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Anagan is planning a trip in the Bernese Oberland and is considering the Regional Pass for two adults and a child. They’re unsure if they can buy separate tickets from Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch and want to know if it's cheaper than the CHF 99 fare currently listed. They’re looking for specific advice on ticket prices and options.

Key takeaways:
  • You can purchase a discounted return ticket from Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch for CHF 99 if you have the Regional Pass Bernese Oberland.
  • If you have a Swiss Half Fare Card, your 13-year-old daughter can travel for free, and you may get a cheaper fare than CHF 99.
  • Always check the manned ticket desks in the Jungfrau region for discounted tickets rather than relying solely on online prices.
  • Be cautious about Supersaver fares; they may not be available on your travel dates, so it’s better to confirm normal fares before purchasing.

Hello,I will buy regional Bernese overland pass for 2 adults and one child(13). My pass covers eiger express till elgerglerscher. Can I just buy separate tickets for last part? elgerglerscher to jungfraujoch. I am still confused on this part. As of right now with my pass it is 99 chf from grindelwald terminal to top of Europe. May be it will be cheaper than 99 chf from elgerglerscher to jungfrau ? Thanks in advance.

I went on sbb.ch and I got round trip for 75chf! Per person. So 2 adults will be 150 chf and my daughter will be free with my Swiss half card. She is 13.

    Am I on right track?

    Hi Anagan,

With the Regional Pass Bernese Oberland Pass, the discounted ticket from Eigergletscher to Jungfraujoch is fixed at CHF99 return. However if you also have a Swiss Half Fare Card you might be able to get a cheaper ticket. For clarification, you should contact the Jungfraubahn.

    Regards,

    Hi Anagan,

The ticket fare for Eigergletscher-Jungfraujoch and back is CHF 99 with a Regional-Pass Bernese Oberland, as mentioned at https://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland/validity and https://www.myswissalps.com/jungfraujoch/tickets. You can get this discounted ticket at any of the manned ticket desks at the railway stations in the Jungfrau region.

With the Swiss Half Fare Card, you’ll pay half of the normal price as listed at https://www.myswissalps.com/jungfraujoch/tickets. Beware that the lower fares you’ve found in the Swiss timetable can be Supersaver fares, that may not be available during your travel dates. Here’s how they work: http://www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/switzerland. And this page explains how to find the “normal” fares for a trip: https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable.

You can’t combine discounts of both passes, so you should buy your discounted ticket for either the Regional-Pass Bernese Oberland or the Swiss Half Fare Card. The Regional-Pass option will usually be cheaper.

Your 13-year old daughter will travel along for free with either the Swiss Family Card (https://www.myswissalps.com/swissfamilycard) or the cheap children’s version of the Regional-Pass Bernese Oberland (http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland/price).
