Hi Nev,
I’m sorry your train was cancelled. In the worst case scenario, you might have to arrange to get a new ticket on your own and claim your refund later. You should contact the reseller from which you purchased the previous ticket. It might take a couple of days for them to respond.
Please reach out again if you need more info and do keep us posted.

Anna

What is ‘Bahn Train’ ?
There should be more than one journey available from Hallstatt so I don’t understand what has happened.

Thanks Anna & 1960man for the replies.
The Bahn train is referring to german DB train service.
From the email and cancellation notice, it seem like i can or i NEED To find the alternative route using the same website. I am attaching the email record and a snapshot of the changing procedure in this thread.
what does it mean by “can use your ticket on another Deutsche Bahn service to reach the destination you booked”?
i just dont understand and dont know how can i get the replacement.
Anyway i had email the officer 2 days ago and still waiting for their reply
Thank you

Hi Nev,
Thanks for attaching the screenshot. I understand your situation much clearer now.
Your previous connection has been cancelled but your ticket is still valid and you can use it to travel on any Deutsche Bahn connection from Hallstatt to Lucerne. But you do need to find the alternative connection on your own.

Thanks for the screenshots.
There are many points here to clarify
1) Hallstatt is in Austria, not Germany, so none of the trains in your itinerary will be operated by DB (German Federal Railway)
2) Bahn.com website – the German Railways journey planner nevertheless covers all Europe, hence why your information comes from ‘DB’
3) There appears to be no indication of why your ‘specific’ train was cancelled – have you got that? Without a date I can not see what might be the problem.
4) The Second screen shot clearly states that as the operator has changed the rules, your ‘specific train only’ ticket is now valid on any train.
5) Hallstatt is ‘off the beaten track’ so it takes quite a while to reach the main city of Salzburg, where you can pick up the international Railjet train from Salzburg to Zurich

Thanks for the replies…
Yes Anna i had found there is another alternative train schedule on the same day.
However, is it i need to book this and pay first and they will refund me for the earlier trip cancellation ?
Or actually i only need to go to the counter on the same day and show them the cancellation info to get my replacement ticket ?

Hi Nev,
Yes, the best thing to do is go to the ticket counter and show the cancellation. You should be able to use the current ticket on the alternative connection, or issued a new ticket without additional cost.

No, you don’t need to do anything apart from get on the train you now choose to use.
See my point 4 in my previous post, and your own screenshot ‘DB Cancellation 2’ – where this is clearly stated.
