Cheapest train from Interlaken to Zurich airport

Short summary – read this first

A traveler mentions they will stay in Interlaken near the train station in April and seeks advice on the most affordable train option to get to Zurich Airport for their return to the US. They are comparing prices, particularly looking into their tickets purchased through the Trainline website.

Key takeaways:
  • Use the SBB Timetable to buy your train tickets, as it's a reliable source.
  • Consider using a Saver Day Pass to save money; it can cost as low as CHF52 if purchased at the best price.
  • Both local Swiss train prices and those on third-party sites like Trainline are generally similar, with no major price differences expected.

We will be staying in Interlaken close to the Interlaken Ost train station in April. We need to know the most cost efficient train to get to Zurich Airport for departure back to the US. We have booked others trains through trainline website and just want to know if this is our best and cheapest option?

Hello Edmondsti and Welcome to MySwissAlps

I only ever used the SBB Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to buy tickets.

The fare is CHF74 via Bern. You can save a bit on the price using a Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass and bit.ly/2rkekat) if you can purchase at the best price of CHF52.

Indeed, the Swiss railways sets prices based on distance – so every train running that route would be the same price (you pay for the route, not the train).

It could be that 3rd party companies have slightly varying prices but I would expect them to be about the same price. Trainline shows 66 Euros for that trip which is 75chf at the moment. The Saver Day Pass is probably your cheapest option.
