Which ticket from Geneva to Grindelwald area
A traveler named Jenlee7 is planning a 5-day trip to Grindelwald from Geneva airport and needs advice on train passes. They want to know if the Swiss Half Fare Card provides discounts on airport trains and whether the Swiss Travel Pass covers this trip. Jenlee7 is also curious about buying tickets for the Jungfraujoch tour and visiting the Schilthorn.
- The Swiss Half Fare Card offers a 50% discount on regular train ticket prices, but it needs to be purchased before boarding the train from the airport.
- The Swiss Travel Pass covers the journey from the airport to your destination, so consider it if you plan multiple train journeys.
- For visiting Schilthorn, the ticket includes the cable car ride, so no need to buy that separately.
- It may be wise to buy Jungfraujoch tickets last minute to adapt to changing weather conditions.
- Consider using a Saver Day Pass for traveling from the airport if it suits your itinerary.

Hi,
Please help. After lots of reading it seems best way to travel to Grindelwald from Geneva airport may be by train. I’ve been able to locate the time table but now I need to decide whether it’s cheaper to buy a pass. From what I understand the Swiss half pass gives 50% discount. Would this discount be applicable to the train price from the airport, or just trains within the region? Therefore as the Swiss travel pass says trains are free would this be applicable to the train I get from Geneva?
My itinary is 5 days. 2 are travelling to and from the airport.
1st day would be to get a train from Grindelwald to local area maybe First or do some exploring/mountain biking
2nd day would be to do Jungfraujoch tour ( my understanding with Swiss half travel pass- theses tickets would be discounted by 50%)
3rd day to get a train? To Lauterbrunnen and plan to get up to Mürren and visit Shilthorn. When you buy tickets to go to the Shilthorn does that include the cable cars to get there or is this separate?
Im trying to work out which pass would be better for my itinerary. Has anyone done anything similar?
Also would you recommend buying the Jungfrau ticket on the day as I’m going to be unsure on the weather conditions. Don’t quite understand the printing of tickets at home etc??
Many thanks
