Train tickets or pass from Milan to Grindelwald
A traveler is planning a 5-day trip from Milan to Switzerland, visiting Grindelwald and Bern. They want to know if the Swiss Transfer Ticket and Swiss Travel Pass are the best options for their itinerary. They also seek clarification on purchasing train tickets from Domodossola to Grindelwald.
- Check the prices for train tickets from Milan to Grindelwald and Bern to Milan online to find the best deals.
- If your Swiss Travel Pass is valid on your entry or exit day, you only need a ticket from the Swiss border to Milan.
- The Swiss Transfer Ticket has largely been replaced by the Saver Day Pass, so consider using that instead.

Hi everyone
I will be travelling to Swiss for 5 days from Milan:
Day 1: From Milan to Grindelwald (Swiss Transfer Ticket)
Day 2 & 3 : Grindelwald (Swiss Travel Pass)
Day 4 : Bern (Swiss Travel Pass)
Day 5: From Bern back to Milan (Swiss Transfer Ticket)
My questions:
1) I presume the best and cheapest option is to buy “Swiss Transfer Ticket” for outbound and inbound from / to Milan and “Swiss Travel Pass” for the 3 days at Grindelwald and Bern as illustrated above?
2) From Milan I need to buy train ticket to Domodossola. From Domodossola can I buy the ticket (by activating my Swiss Transfer Ticket) to Grindelwald? OR…. Buy the ticket to Brig? At Brig buy another ticket to Spiez – Interlaken – Grindelwald?
Thank you and Best Regards
