Train from Vienna to Bern with Swiss Travel Pass
Han is planning a trip from Vienna to Bern in September. They want to confirm if they need to buy a ticket only to Buchs SG and use the Swiss Travel Pass from there, as well as if they need to change trains in Buchs SG for Zurich before heading to Bern. Here’s the helpful scoop.
- You only need to buy the train ticket from Vienna to Buchs SG; after that, the Swiss Travel Pass will cover your trip to Bern.
- You do not need to change trains in Buchs SG; you can stay seated on the same train.

We will be travelling from Vienna to Bern in Sept 2019.
Would like to ask the following:
1. With the Swiss Travel Pass, I will only need to purchase the train ticket from Vienna (Wien HBF) to Buchs SG? From there, I can use the Swiss Travel Pass to Bern?
2. Do I need to leave the train (RJX 160) in Buchs SG and onboard a different train in Buchs SG to Zurich. Subsequently from Zurich to Bern.
Thank you
Cheers,
Han
