1 day travel card for travel in Switzerland
Himore is planning a day trip from Geneva to Lausanne and Montreux with their partner and three young children. They need advice on whether a one-day travelcard covers both train and boat journeys, and they’re curious about needing a Swiss Half Fare Card to purchase it, aiming to save money on public transport over two days.
- A one-day travelcard typically covers trains and trams, but you may need to buy a separate ticket for the boat ride on Lake Geneva.
- Consider getting the Swiss Half Fare Card with the Swiss Family Card for children over 6 to save money on trips.
- Look into point-to-point tickets or Supersaver tickets, as they might be cheaper for your specific journey.

Hi
more i research into travelling public transport in switzerland, more i confuse my self.
all i want to know is can i get a one day travecard (i just want to go from geneva to lausanne by train and then lasuanne to Montreaux by steam boat on lake geneva, in one day) that covers my all aspect of my journey or does one day travelcard only cover trains and trams and so i have to buy boat ticket separately. I am going with my partner and three children under 10.
also can you explain why i need half fare travelcard to get one day travelcard? or a 9am pass.
I am only going to use public transport no more than 2 days. so i am trying to figure out affordable ways to travel without emptying my bank account.
thank you
