    Hi,
I am so glad to find this community for Alps in Switzerland.
I am going to travel to Murren at the mid of October with friends (I have been in Grinderward before but not Murren) for 3 days, and would like to ask the recommendations for moderate hiking trails in Murren area for sight seeing and photography. I appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks,
    -yb

    Hi yb-in-travel,

Welcome to MySwissAlps.  Happy to hear you are enjoying the forum 🙂

Some suggested hikes in the region can be found below:

(Do note, transportation to Männlichen ceases on 26th October, further details here:  https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/mannlichen/).
There is also the Mürren Mountain View Trail that is a nice hike too with wonderful views.
I suggest you pop into the local tourist office when you are here, they will have up-to-date trail status’ on all hikes in the area, as some close mid October time.

Practical hiking information can also be found in the link here:

I hope this gets you started.

    Kind regards,
    Yolanda

    Hi Yolanda,
Thank you for the information! They do help.
I have a further question, can I fly drone in Murren area? Or is there any information on where I can fly drone in that region?

    Thanks,
    -yb-in-travel

    Hi yb-in-travel,

Since you are looking for hiking trails in Murren, there is one walking trail (much less published) you shouldn’t miss. it is easy and on level paved road with very minor incline, after encountering a few steps getting out of Murren.
It is a walking trail from Murren to Gimmelwald. It is an easy walk friendly trail with absolutely breathtaking views. It shouldnt take more than 35-40 mins. You wont be disappointed. Towards the end of the rail there is a small self service “Honesty Shop” that sells besides other items a locally brewed beer for 5 Euros and please do support the locals. I am sure you will enjoy the trail and the beer. From the end of the trail, you can take a cable car back to Murren or other options to go down.
    Best regards.

    Hi yb-in-travel,

Regarding drone usage in the Jungfrau region. As you can appreciate, there are rules in place, to not only protect the nature reserves but also as the airspace is often frequented here, it would be dangerous to fly drones.

The following link should help you out, as well as the map for guidance:

    Kind regards,
    Yolanda

We all really enjoyed the North Face Trail from Murren in September 2023.  Hope to do it again on our next visit.  Excellent views
