Unaccompanied minors train travel
A traveler is excited about their first trip to Switzerland, planning to visit three cities with a 20-year-old friend. They seek advice on whether a parent consent form is needed for them as a minor traveling unaccompanied, especially when taking trains between cities.
- Carry a note of consent from your parents or guardian with your valid ID when traveling unaccompanied, as it's recommended by Swiss authorities.
- Look into the Swiss Youth Pass for free train travel options, which can save you money on transport.
- Check airline requirements for minors traveling alone to ensure you have all the necessary documents.

Hello! This will be my first time going to Switzerland, and I was just wondering if there were any rules regarding minors traveling unaccompanied. I am 16 years old and will be traveling to 3 different cities in Switzerland with a friend who’s 20 years old, just the two of us. We are planning on taking trains from city to city. Would I need a parent consent form, or a letter from my parents saying that they are consenting to allow me to travel? Thanks so much in advance for your help!
