Cecil is planning a one-day trip to Lauterbrunnen, Murren, and Schilthorn. They want to know if their itinerary, which includes various methods of transport like trains and cable cars, is doable and if they should stop at any attractions along the way.
Key takeaways:
Consider visiting Trummelbach Falls between Stechelberg and Lauterbrunnen, as it's worthwhile.
If you have a Swiss Travel Pass, your transportation costs will be significantly reduced, especially for the routes involving Lauterbrunnen and Gimmelwald.

We plan on parking the car at Lauterbrunnen is there parking available. Also if we do cable car to Schilthorn from Murren and back how do we get from Murren back to Lauterbrunnen.
Take the cable car from Mürren down to Stechelberg via Gimmelwald. There is a bus from Stechelberg to Lauterbrunnen with a stop at Trummelbach Falls on the way.
Yes there is paid parking at Lauterbrunnen.

When you are in Murren, on the way up from Murren to Schilthorn or down from Schilthorn, I highly recommend a stop at Birg station platform. Go out and then take the beautiful Birg Thrill walk that wraps itself around the cliff. You get a beautiful bird’s eye view of the alps and the whole area during the walk. It isn’t promoted very much (which is good in a way) but is so much better than the Cliff walk in Grindelwald.
If you aren’t afraid of heights, go for it because we truly enjoyed it. Definitely very safe.
The train ride from Lauterbrunnen to Wengen to Kleine Scheidegg is such a scenic one, it’s a pity if you miss it. Murren, Wengen and Lauterbrunnen are some lovely places to stay and take leisurely strolls. We were there for a week and still craved for more. LOL.
Just a tip: Try to avoid Bernese Oberland on the 1st week of October which is the Golden week holidays for China. If they swamp Interlaken and the alps – be prepared!
How do i go about getting tickets for the all the different legs of the trip? i do the round trip from Murren to Schilthorn and then where do i get tickets for Lauterbrunnen to Grutschalp and from Murren to Stchelberg and the bus from Schelberg-Lauterbrunnen?
If you have a Swiss Travel Pass it’s all free and you don’t need tickets: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass. If not, you can go to the station, explain about your plans, and the staff will issue the right ticket.
