    Hi there,

We received email notification for Swiss Travel pass either to print out or download Wallet App to android phone. I would like to download the App as it would be more convenient to just show the QR code to the inspector? I don’t know much about the Wallet App and how to use it. Do you know which App for android phone is easiest to use and do I have to put in my credit card information in order to use the App for the Swiss pass?

Also, do restaurants charge a fee when paying by a credit card? For example, some places in Australia charge between 1- 1.5% on top of the total bill if paying by a credit card.

    Kind regards

    Sabby

    Hi Sabby,

Most Android phones usually come pre-installed with a wallet app. If you don’t have one, you can download Google Wallet.

When you receive the Swiss Travel Pass by email, you will have an option to download the railpass to your wallet app via a link. Click on this link and it will be instantly saved to your wallet. You can find further information on how to use the Swiss Travel Pass here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/howtouse

Paying with a credit card is common in Switzerland. There is usually no extra charges levied. However some shops and restaurants may charge a minimal fee but customers are usually informed about this beforehand. Further useful information available here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swissfranc

    Hope this helps.

    regards,

    Anna

    Hi Anna,

I downloaded Google Wallet and I clicked on the link in my email. I went back to the App, but couldn’t see that it being downloaded. Will it still work if I screenshot the black and white pdf file with the QR code? The QR code looks small on the screen. I can expand it.

    Regards

    Sabby

    Hi Sabby,

Yes you can just show the PDF document during ticket inspection. What’s important is that the QR code must be legible.

You can also print out the PDF doc as back-up.

    Regards,

    Anna

There is a Ticket-ID number on the PDF. Not sure if they can use that incase the QR code doesn’t scan. For example, I’ve had issues with scanning barcode on my phone before.

    Hi Sabby,

To avoid similar problem, I recommend you print out the PDF doc and bring the hardcopy with you during your trip. Or you can forward the email to another person in your travel group so you can access the QR code in case it’s not possible to scan it from your phone.

    Regards,

    Anna
