Which Limmat river cruise in Zurich is more scenic

Short summary – read this first

Louise is planning a 4-day trip to Zurich starting on May 6, arriving from Luzern. She wants to know which Limmat river boat cruise is more scenic—the Mini Seerundfahrt or the Flussrundfahrt—and also needs help understanding the timetable for the Flussrundfahrt. Additionally, she is unsure if her Swiss Travel Pass covers the rides.

Key takeaways:
  • For the Limmat river cruise, the round trip from Landesmuseum is about 1 hour and is included with the Swiss Travel Pass.
  • The boat runs every half-hour, starting at 10:50 AM, and you can hop on and off at various stops along the route.
  • Make sure to check the ZVV website for the most current boat schedule.

    Hello Swiss Alps Forum,

Will be in Zurich for 4 days, during the first week of May. We will be arriving in Zurich on May 6 from Luzern.

Just wondering about the Limmat river boat cruises. Which section is more scenic?

MINI SEERUNDFAHRT MINI LAKE CRUISE or FLUSSRUNDFAHRT RIVER CRUISE?

Also, not sure how to read the timetable (pink area highlighted) If I was interested in the Flussrundhart cruise, and we are arriving on a Sat, is the first boat 13:35 and every 60 mins or is it in addition to the daily times indicated as well?

Fahrplan April23_A4_online.pdf (Yes, it is only up to April 30, and I will look at the new timetable once it is released)

I also assume that our STP covers the boat rides.

    Thanks,

    Louise

Limmat is best with a rubber boat in Summer.

No ships on Limmat beyond Zürich Landesmuseum.

The Limmat section with the public transport boat is short (about 1h round trip) and covered with STP.

    Hi Louise,

I personally like to take my guests on the Limmat cruise as it is a convenient and relaxing way to see all the beautiful highlights of Zurich’s old town. It is a 1-hr round trip starting from Landesmuseum (next to Zurich HB) and takes you all the way to Zurichhorn via Lake Zurich then back to Landesmuseum. But if you wish you can get off at any station along the route and maybe hop on again later. The boat runs every half-hour I think (first departure at 10.50am). If you have a Swiss Travel Pass, you can hop on and off as many times as you wish.
