Which Section of the Via Alpina?
A traveler has 15 days for hiking in late July and early August and wants to explore a section of the Via Alpina. They seek advice on choosing between the Feldkirch (R56) and Vernayaz (R107) sections, along with tips on hut reservations and must-see attractions. They plan to camp to keep costs down.
- It is highly recommended to reserve huts well in advance during July and August, as they can fill up quickly.
- If you can't reserve in advance, consider calling one or two days prior to check availability.
- Look for sections of the trail with more accommodation options to avoid being stranded if huts are full.
- Research must-see attractions in your chosen section to ensure you don't miss out on great experiences.

Hello,
I have 15 days to hike in late July and early August and I’d like to do a section of the Via Alpina. I’m an avid hiker/camper and have a little “alpine” experience, but I’ve never been in the Alps before. I’m looking for some spectacular views, good challenges, and an adventure. I’m hoping to keep the trip at lower costs, and I’m planning on carrying a tent and some overnight gear.
I’m currently undecided of which section to choose between Feldkirch (R56) and Vernayaz (R107). Can anyone offer any suggestions or help in making the decision, as well as any other advice you may have?
Thanks!!!
