Wifi is not available on all trains in Switzerland. As a general rule, it is available on long-distance trains (IC and IR). Key in your train route in the timetable line and trains marked with FS will have WiFi. https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable
Passengers from abroad can surf the internet for free if they have a SIM card from a participating provider: Digitec Connect, Quickline, Salt, Swisscom, Sunrise.
The steps are:
- Install the SBB FreeSurf app.
- Register (once only).
- Trains with free internet are marked with FS (for FreeSurf) in the online timetable and in the SBB Mobile app.
- Activate Bluetooth.
- Open SBB FreeSurf.
- Confirm that you wish to surf for free.
- Start surfing.
