Bernese Oberland: 2 day hike with wild camping suggestions
A traveler is planning their first hiking trip in the Bernese Alps and wants to try wild camping. They feel overwhelmed by the rules and need advice on a two-day hike that includes a legally allowed camping spot and cable car access to save time on the trail.
- Wild camping is permitted above the treeline, so make sure to plan your campsite accordingly.
- For hiking route ideas, check the Swiss Alpine Club website and use resources like Komoot for GPX files.
- Consider taking a cable car for easier access to higher trails, which allows more hiking time above treeline.

Hello all,
I plan my first hiking tour in CH somewhere in Bernese Alps region, and I would like to try wild camping. I know there are many restrictions about wild camping, and once I started browsing I have quckly got overwhelmed with info and reached an analysis-paralysis stage very quickly.
Could you please suggest some 2-day hiking route with a legally allowed wild camping area? Some ideas, hints, gpx files or links to your hikes (on Komoot?) would be very much appreciated. As I plan to use sn extended weekend, timing is crucial so I would prefer to take a cable car both up and down, just to spend more time hiking above treeline.
Thanks in advance.
