Day trip to the Rhine Falls from Zurich with ZVV day pass (zone 110)

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named Nakul is planning a trip to the Rhine waterfalls and wants to purchase a zone 110 pass for 24 hours. They are unsure if they need an extension for 1-2 zones or a pass that covers all zones along the route to the Rhine waterfalls.

Key takeaways:
  • Zone 110 only covers the city center of Zurich, so you need an all zone ZVV ticket or day pass for the trip to Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall.
  • Be aware that there are two stations near the Rhine waterfalls; you may have to pay extra to reach Neuhausen am Rheinfall since it's outside the ZVV network.

I want to travel Rhine waterfalls.

I want to buy a zone 110 pass for 24hours.

If i want to visit rhine, shall i just buy an extension for 1-2 zone?

Or i have to buy for all the zones of the route which comes in between while  reaching Rhine waterfall zone.

    Hi Nakul,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Zone 110 only covers the city centre of Zurich. You will need an all zone ZVV ticket or day pass to travel to Schloss Laufen am Rheinfall, the station right next to the waterfall.

Take note, there are 2 stations – the other one Neuhausen am Rheinfall is outside of the ZVV network and you would need to pay extra for an upgrade.
