Hi GreaterSwiss,
There are trains to Lauterbrunnen. From there you have two options:
- Bus to Stechelberg, cable car to ‘Mürren (Schilthornbahn)’.
- Cable car to Grütschalp, train to ‘Mürren BLM’.
Which option is best depends on where you stay in Mürren, but the points of arrival are only 20 minutes apart on foot, so it’s not a major difference. If you enter your trip in the timetable you’ll see all details. Be sure to click the plus icon of each connection.
If you have a Swiss Pass, all trains, buses, cable cars you need to get there are free.

To get from Zurich Hbf to Lauterbrunnen do the following:
Thetrip usually requires at two to three switches: usually one at Spiez or Berne, and always at Interlaken and at Lauterbrunnen. There are assistants at every Gleis(track) to help make sure you get on the right train. There are a couple of spotsthat are a bit tricky. The first tricky spot is Interlaken, where there are twostops – Interlaken West and Interlaken Ost (East). Stay on the train until youget to Ost, which is the last stop for the SBB. There you will change to theBOB train bound for Lauterbrunnen. This is the second tricky spot as the same trainis also bound for Grindelwald; it stops and splits in a little place calledZweilütschinen (“Two Rivers”). One half of the train proceeds to Lauterbrunnen, where you want to go, and the other half goes to Grindelwald, where you don’t.So, you need to make sure you get on the correct end of the train in Interlaken. It is well marked and there are many assistants to help out so be sure to askif you have any questions. They spend their entire day trying to keep touristson the proper end of the train so don’t be shy.
Once you arrive at Lauterbrunnen do as Arno suggested. Most people do option #2. Cable car is right across the street from the train station, bus stop right in front
