    Hello,

I’m traveling from Lucerne to Wengen and arrive in Wengen on September 25th night and am planning a 2 day coverage of Jungfrau on Sep 26 & 17. Accommodations are already booked in Wengen. I will be departing Wengen to Zurich on 28th early morning.

Can some tips be given on what to cover and what to avoid? I’ve listed below what I want to see – some help on where to start and where to end would be greatly appreciated! If anyone can also add pointers on anything “special to do” that’ll be awesome help (apart from absorbing the nature and it’s beauty, of course)…

    – Top of Jungfraujoch

    – Schilthorn – Piz Gloria

    – Kleine Scheidegg

    – Lauterbrunnen falls

    – St Beatus-Hohlen caves

    – Glacier Canyon Grindelwald

    – First cliff walk

    – Ice palace

    – Adventure activities – any one from paragliding / bungee jump / canyon swing / helicopter sky-diving

How can I cover the most in 2 days? Thanks in advance for all your replies!!!

    Hi badarun,

    Welcome to the forum.

Wengen is a great base to explore the Jungfrau region.

Since you only have 2 days, perhaps this 1-day itinerary would be a good option. It gives you a good introduction of all the best spots in the Jungfrau region

Jungfrau in 1 day (http://www.myswissalps.com/on edayjungfrauregion)

Your need a full day at least to visit the Top of Jungfraujoch or Schilthorn-Piz Gloria

Thanks Anna for your reply. Can the top of Jungfraujoch or Schilthorn-Piz Gloria both be covered in 1 day if I start really early?

As well, what oothers from my list can be covered within 2 days? Thanks.

    Hi badarun,

It is possible to do the Jungfraujoch and the Schilthorn in 1 day but I would not recommend it.

From Wengen to Jungfraujoch, the journey takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes, with change in Kleine Scheidegg. That’s 2.5 hours return not including waiting hours. If you have time to spare, you can make a stop in Kleine Scheidegg and enjoy the view from up here before you continue your journey up or down.

To get to Schilthorn, you will have to change in Lauterbrunnen and from there take the bus to Stechelberg where you will have to take the Schilthornbahn (Schilthorn train) to reach Piz Gloria. This journey will take you at least 1 to 1.5 hour. The Schilthornbahn also stops in Gimmelwald and Murren, and these are very lovely villages, and you can easily get off and get back on the Schilthornbahn again if you are not in a rush to get to the top.

Make sure you always check the SBB timetable for exact train departures and travel duration

    Hi badarun

    I’ll add a comment to Anna’s.

    You wrote:

What do you mean by <<“covered “>>?

<<“It is possible to do the Jungfraujoch and the Schilthorn”>>

And, I’m not sure what it means to “do” those places. Could you be clearer on your expectations?

    Hello Slowpoke,

What I was trying to ask is – what is the main activity in these areas apart from the nature – is there any adventure activities, like toboggan, zipline, paragliding etc. I obviously will enjoy the scenery as that’s the reason for the trip…As such, I’ve not made detailed plans as I’m working. From what I listed, I’d like to know which ones are close together (like First Cliff Walk / Ice Palace etc). Thanks.

    An update on my plans…

On 26th – Jungfraujoch trip. I need help from the wonderful forum members if I’ll be able to cover anything else – like Maennlichen or Schilthorn or Lauterbrunnen falls? Again, I’ll start early morning to get a head start…

On 27th – Grindelwald, First Cliff Walk, Glacier Canyon, St. Beatus caves. What else can be covered apart from these in the Grindelwald area?

    Thanks.

    Hi badarun-

Activities in the area are discussed in the link Anna gave:

<<“Feel free to browse the website to plan your trip

    http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrauregion/activities“>>

    and it’s parent links:

    http://www.myswissalps.com/be rneseoberland

    http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrauregion.

This map can help you understand the locations, their proximity, and thus – combined with the timetable – give you timing for travel between them..

    map.search.ch/?pos=645600,165632&z=32 &poi=bergbahn,halteste lle,zug

Mouse over the icons for exact station names. I have turned on station icons from the menu under Points of Interest ( star in a circle) and Traffic.

    <<“An update on my plans…”>>

To carry out those plans, you need 2 pieces of information:

    1.- How to travel between them and proximity/timing,discussed in my other post;

    and.

2.- How much time it will take you to “do” or “cover” each one. Only you can determine the latter, since we (or at least I) don’t know what “cover” means to you.
