Hi There,

My family and I areplanning to visit Switzerland by car. We have a total of 2 nights and 2 days. Iunderstand it is not much which is why we have decided to restrict ourselves tosomewhere between Montreax, Lausanne, Berne, Thun, Interlaken area. We wouldlike your input on the most judicious way to spend this time in this part ofSwitzerland.

Thanks!
Kurush

Hello Kurush! If you have two days only, you should definitely restrict yourself to one area. It would be easier to give advice if you can be a bit more specific, e.g.: from what direction will you be arriving? Is it important to you to minimize traveling times? What kind of activities are you looking for?

Hi Annika,

We will be coming from Venice, Italy. We have increased the time in Switzerland by 1 more day. We are interested in visiting either mount Titlis or Jungfrau on one day and reserve the other 2 days for seeing parts around Montreax, Interlaken and Lake Geneva. I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Kurush

And yes, keeping travel time down to minimum is important since we understand we have less time. The 2 days apart from Titlis/Jungfrau can be sent on visiting scenic places as well as museums and cultural places you recommend. Hiking is not an option for us since we will be travelling with a middle aged person who has a disability.

Thanks!

Hi Kurush,

In that case you could start in Interlaken for one day for your visit to the Jungfrau. Then take 2 days to travel to Geneva via this route, for example. There are plenty of options along the way. Just to name a few:

  • a mountain trip to the Niederhorn starting in Beatenbucht;
  • the Hünegg castle in Hilterfingen;
  • the town of Thun and its castle;
  • a mountain trip up the Stockhorn starting in Erlenbach;
  • a mountain trip to Glacier 3000 near Les Diablerets;
  • a boat trip on Lake Geneva;
  • then on to Montreux, Lausanne and Geneva.

You may want to check the link for hotels and further sightseeing suggestions per town. Please check the opening hours in advance as they depend on the season, and look into rail passes for discounts on mountain and boat trips. The Swiss Half Fare Card would suit your need I think.
