We are planning 6 nights trip with 2 kids (2 year & 6 year old) starting from 12 August 2018. We will arrive Zurich (from London) on 12 August around 4:00 pm. We currently plan to cover Interlaken (2 nights), Zermatt (2 nights) & Lucerne (2 nights).

Day 1 (12 August): Travel from Zurich to Interlaken by train. Plan to relax that night.Need advise on: – – travel time from Zurich to Interlaken, is it direct train? how convenient is to travel with luggage. Further is it worth taking dinner cruise on Lake Brienz?

Day 2 (13 August): Interlaken – Jungfraujoch: Depart on an excursion from Interlaken to Jungfraujoch. Need advise on: total travel time for this trip? Do we need to book ticket in advance? Best way to plan this journey. Also do we need to reserve seat in this journey.

Day 3 (14 August): Zermatt: Need advise on: Travel time from Interlaken to Zermatt and best way to travel which helps us experience scenic beauty of Switzerland. Further things to do in Zermatt

Day 4 (15 August): Zermatt: Matterhorn Glacier Paradise & resting for the day

Day 5 (16 August): Leave for Lucerne: What is the best way to reach there?

Day 6 (17 August): Explore Mt titlis. Best way to plan for Mt Titlis?

Day 7 (18 August): Leave for Zurich to catch 12:30 pm flight. What is the travelling time from Lucerne.

Hi Narayanagar and welcome to MySwissAlps!

    1. No, there aren’t direct trains from Zurich to Interlaken. You can check schedule information on the Swiss railways timetable here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/timetable
    2. No reservations needed. You can use the timetable again to find schedules on your date of travel
    3. I’d travel from Interlaken to Zermatt via Spiez and Kandersteg. One of the more scenic routes in Switzerland. 🙂 Things to do in Zermatt can be found here: https://www.myswissalp s.com/zermatt
    4. I’d then travel via Montreux and the Golden Pass line to Lucerne. https://www.myswissalp s.com/goldenpass
    5. See here for Mt. Titlis directions: https://www.myswissalp s.com/titlis/gettingth ere
    6. See timetable. 🙂
